There’s only one thing to be done with this. Get the image up as an awful reminder of just how badly I can paint and then burn the original. Conrad’s Mr Kurtz, in Heart of Darkness, expired with the words “The horror, the horror”. He would probably have done the same if he saw this. 

Tomorrow we shall have the start of a nice Dutch landscape.

So much safer to avoid working with children and animals.
