Yet again the need to put up a post coincides with the need for the paint to dry before any semblance of humanity can be added to the face. All the darkest darks have been lost as various “flesh tones” have been applied and over-applied. The modelling of the mouth, the base of the nose, and the eye sockets has got lost. The top of the hair has turned into a rocket. Etc, etc. 

Maybe by the time it’s my turn again (Jane takes over for a week tomorrow, thank goodness), things will have got better, or the painting will have quietly disappeared.
